Wed 8/29 & Thurs 8/30

Wednesday:
EQ: None
Vocab:
Homework: Bring in 3 ring binder. Sign and return syllabus by tuesday.  Bio Survey by Tuesday.
Recap: Today students became accustomed to the procedures of the classroom.  We reviewed the syllabus, classroom rules, and expectations.  Students then logged onto the laptops and accessed several websites used in the classroom.  Students should complete the Styer-Biology Survey that was emailed and shared with them on googledocs.  (Please see me if you have issues accessing the survey).


Thursday:
EQ: "How do we experiment in biology?"
Vocab: collaboration, hypothesis, control group
Homework:  Bring in 3 ring binder. Sign and return syllabus by tuesday.  Bio Survey by Tuesday.
Recap: Students were introduced to the Do First and Daily Science Journal procedure.  They recorded the three new vocab terms and received instructions on how to find definitions (1. pink packets in class, Books in class, or from a reliable source online... not wiki!).  Students then learned about Redi and his famous experiment with maggots!  Students learned about the importance of a control group and the scientific method.  Lastly, students completed a scientific method worksheet (period 2 will finish on Tuesday).
